The Karnataka Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Karnataka RERA), on August 10, 2026, pursuant to the advisory issued by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, has granted a four-month extension to the registration and corresponding project completion timelines of registered real estate projects in Karnataka where the original, revised or extended completion date falls on or after February 28, 2026. The extension is granted by treating the West Asia situation as a “war” for invoking the Force Majeure clause under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.
The extension does not apply to projects registered on or after August 1, 2026. For projects covered by the order, promoters are not required to submit separate individual applications seeking extension of registration, and no fee is payable solely for the four-month extension.
The order has been issued under Section 6 read with Section 7(3) of the RERA Act, 2016 and comes into force with immediate effect. The order is issued by the Karnataka RERA Secretariat on behalf of the Hon’ble Authority.
